Many applications require the use of a computer either permanently mounted in a vehicle or alternatively only removed at the end of a working day.
In this regard such computers need to be able to withstand high temperatures, vibration, shock and be dust resistant. However, unless installed in a sports car :), they do not need to have an IP rating for waterproofing.
